Photographic Montages

Much of my earliest work was in watercolor and collage with a stylistic foundation in Surrealism.  To me, Surreal images with the chaos and combination of seemingly unrelated images are representative of the world we have created. My earliest work as a (film) photographer attempted to capture the abstract and surreal nature of what I saw.  With the development of digital photography, I can record the world I see and examine it piece by piece.  By examining each piece, I can gain an understanding of its nature and value. The Photographic Montages I create, both Abstract and Surreal, attempt to reconstruct our world based on the inherent nature, value, and aesthetics of each part.
